As part of the global preparation set by the school, a Gender and Development Forum was conducted on October 13, 2017 at Saint Peter’s College of Toril. The forum intends to empower individuals, especially women, who experience stereotyping and discrimination set by the modern society and to seek in establishing educational and professional opportunities for women that are equal to such privileges given to men.
“If we stop defining ourselves by what we are, we can all be a lot freer,”a quoted by United nation Women Goodwill Ambassador, Emma Watson. It is only until around 1969 that an approach of development projects for women emerged – women in development. It is the integration of women into the global economics by improving their status and assisting in total development.
Ms. Dara Adrianne Cabaobao inroduced the Guest Speaker, Ms. Christine D. Montera a GAD Advocate and professor from University of Mindanao, Davao City. As the Open Forum was conducted both teachers and students couldn’t help but share their thoughts and ideas about the topic. The forum ended well and Ms. Maan Acuña and Dr. Marybeth Lauron leading the awarding of Certificate to the Resource Speaker.
The event concluded with awarding of Certificate of Outstanding Performance of the College Dean’s Listers for their ever valued effort to rise amidst mediocrity – and a call to our fellow students to do the same.
